A cool, almost chilly, breeze came in through our window, giving me another reason to want to stay in bed all day long. The first reason being our super comfortable Star Wars bed sheets.*
Five more minutes and then I’ll get up.
Okay, maybe fifteen.
I shuffle down the hallway and see my older daughter working on a project at the dining table. She doesn’t want breakfast yet, just a snack.
Open the fridge, grab her some food and pour her a glass of water.
Huh. That’s the sound my phone makes when there’s a flash flood warning. I check the screen and a wave of terror washes over me.
Weekends are for
Scooter rides and walking the dog at the park
Braving Costco crowds
Catching up on cartoons
Strolling along lagoons
Getting Dole Whip and not sharing any with your kids
Seeing family at the beach
Letting the ocean wash over your feet
Stuffing your face with manapua, fried noodles, and banana lumpia
Smiling because your heart is so full

Sometimes breaking up your routine can be good for your mental health.
And if it can be done with family, well, that just makes it so much sweeter.
