The Magic of Disney

There are many who will say you should wait until your kids are older to take them to a Disney* park. That they won’t remember it if you take them when they’re three. That taking your kids to do anything Disney, whether it be a character breakfast at Aulani or a cruise in the Bahamas, is a waste of money.

And to all of that I say: Hogwash.

Trust me, I know that traveling anywhere (especially from Hawaii) isn’t cheap. Taking your family to Disneyland is hella expensive. But to me, it’s so worth it.

I totally believe that experiences are better than things. Sure, I could probably spend money on myself for a shiny new phone or the latest designer purse, and I might like them for a while, but those are just things.

They don’t even come remotely close to the joy I felt when we took our daughters to Disneyland for the first time. The way their eyes lit up when we got to ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Mad Tea Party. The ear to ear grins they had when we met their favorite characters. The thrill they felt when we ate ice cream BEFORE lunch. Because that’s totally allowed at Disneyland.

Right now, my daughters still believe in all the magic that Disneyland has to offer.

And I’m going to hold onto that as long as I possibly can.
