Seen + Heard

Bonjour mes amis!

How are you all doing today? For those who are experiencing Arendelle-like weather, please stay safe and warm. Drink lots of hot cocoa (Baileys optional) and wear your favorite jammies all day long. You know, as long as your boss doesn’t make you come in to work.

I’m sure you have noticed that lately my posts have been… different. And that’s not a bad thing. I feel like there’s a shift in the things I want to share. Now, don’t get me wrong. There will always be family, food, and geeky-things-I-love related posts but maybe not to the same degree as before. Just know that even though some of these topics might be new-ish to my blog, it is still me. 100% me. Complete with bad grammar and a pop culture reference or two or five.

Aaaaand here we go…

Working. Parenting. Cooking. Cleaning. Sometimes it seems like we don’t even have a moment to catch our breath. Although we can feel overwhelmed with all of these responsibilities, we have to make sure we really pay attention to our family and friends when they need us. When they’re striving to be seen and heard.

This means we need to offer more than yeah, uh huh, and oh reallys. We need to listen to what they’re saying AND how they are saying it. Is there hurt in their voice? Are they excited? Worried? Frustrated? Overjoyed? Pay attention to what it is they are currently seeking. Do they want to be comforted or do they want advice? Do they want support or just reassurance? These are all very different things.

We often get so wrapped up in our own things that we miss the signs. The signs that someone in our life really needs us. Let’s try to keep our eyes and hearts open for them. Let’s allow them to be seen and heard.

Whew! Rambling done.

If you successfully made it through all of that, you get a glittery gold star.

Because you’re awesome.

Have a fabuloso weekend!

Much love, bacon, and sprinkles,

P.S. I realize the above picture has nothing to do with what I wrote. I’ve just been jonesing to travel again.
