Quintuple Chocolate M&M Cookies

Most days my television is dominated by my girls. I’ve watched countless hours of Ni Hao Kai-lan, Doc McStuffins, and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I have no problem watching children’s television shows. What I do have a problem with is the commercials between some of those shows.

Ugh. Those commercials. My 3-year-old always asks me if she can get what they’re advertising.

Like StompeezAnd Magna Color 3D Magic. Oh and let’s not forget Baby Butterscotch.

Family and friends who buy my daughters gifts, I beg of you, please don’t buy them any of those things. 

So, dear readers, what commercials do you not care for? 

Quintuple Chocolate M&M Cookies

Yield: 24 cookies


  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 1 cup M&Ms
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips


  1. Grind oats in a food processor or blender until fine, almost like a powder. In a medium bowl, add oats with flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.
  2. In another medium bowl, using a stand or hand mixer cream together butter, sugars, and vanilla. Add eggs and mix until smooth. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix thoroughly to combine. Fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, M&Ms, bittersweet chocolate chips, and mini chocolate chips.
  3. Chill dough for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F.
  5. Spoon rounded ¼ cup portions onto ungreased cookie sheets. Place scoops about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 16-18 minutes, rotating pan 180? halfway through.
  7. Let cookies sit on pan for a minute then using a spatula transfer to a cooling rack.
