La Tour Cafe0
This past Saturday my hubby and I went on a date. Woohoo! We had plans to see The Dark Knight Rises (brilliant film, by the way) and decided to get a bite to eat before hand.
We headed to La Tour Cafe, which is located not too far from Regal Cinemas. It was fairly empty when we arrived (just before 11am). The decor had a slightly modern feel to it. Something that instantly caught my eye? They had a case full of macarons.
The macarons are $1.85 a piece. You can choose from flavors like uzu or key lime, but I decided not to get one. Shocking, I know.
Pizzas and sandwiches dominate the menu but we decided to share the La Tour Burger and Pomme Frites.
The burger seemed slightly overcooked and didn’t have that beefy flavor I like in a burger. It was served on a Challah bun and was topped with Havarti cheese, a salsa verde, a tomato slice, and caramelized onions. The fries were decent, not too salty. My hubby added some grated Parmesan on it to boost the flavor. The vinegary aioli was just okay.
I really wanted to like La Tour Cafe but unfortunately this first visit was just very underwhelming. I wouldn’t mind going there again to try a tartine or banh mi or a pizza. I just won’t order another burger.
