We’re still on the Big Island. It feels like we’ve been here for a LONG time even though it’s only been about five days.
Anyhoo (anywho?), on Thursday we spent some time at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.
Then we walked around Queens’ Marketplace for a bit.
Marcus and I went to Romano’s Macaroni Grill for Happy Hour.
Peppadew Peppers Stuffed With Goat Cheese: YUM!
Spicy Ricotta Meatballs: Don’t get these. It tasted like they got them from Costco.
Sorrento Lemonade: DOUBLE YUM!
Sangria (according to my hubby): Okay.
Grey Goose and Tonic Water (according to my hubby): Okay.
Free Bread: So good that we got two!
Yesterday we drove around Waimea.
First stop: Tropical Dreams Ice Cream
Their cream comes from Big Island dairies and they use local fruits whenever possible. There isn’t much to see at the plant but the gelato we bought is really good. They also sell freshly baked Sandwich Isle Bread Company breads there.
Second Stop: Mamane Bakery
Family owned and run. Our cashier was a lovely 9-year-old girl named Rachel. We got a pumpkin scone and a chocolate dipped macaroon.
Third Stop: W.M. Keck Observatory Visitor Center
We met a really nice volunteer named Dick. He is super passionate about astronomy, which was refreshing. I love to hear people talk about their passion. Not much to see there but if Dick is volunteering, definitely have a chat with him.
Fourth Stop: Village Burger
I know. We were just there on Wednesday. This time we tried the fries with goop (a Parmesan cheese and garlic mixture) and the chocolate shake. Both are highly recommended.
When we came back from Waimea the girls went to the pool with Grandma Marilynn.
Hope you all have a safe and fabulous New Year’s Eve!
